Blues and BBQ in Downtown Orlando
The streets of Downtown Orlando will be filled with the sounds and smells so tempting that you won’t be able to stay away, and when you’re personally invited by the Mayor himself you can’t really refuse. Who doesn’t enjoy the sultry sounds of blues music while you sink your teeth into a tender and juicy cut of BBQ anything. Mayor Buddy Dyer and the city of Orlando present the 9th annual Blues-B-Q festival at City Commons Plaza 400 S. Orange Avenue this Saturday, February 28th from 4pm-10pm where you’re sure to get your fill.
Blues B-Q: Food For the Soul and The Body
This year your ears will be blessed when you hear the Grammy Award Winning R&B singer Betty Wright take the stage. A pioneering singer-songwriter and entrepreneur, she remains one of the few black female musicians to produce a gold record on her own vanity label. Her hit song “Tonight is the Night” is still a crowd favorite. She’ll be joined by The Gerry Williams Band, Silky Smoove, and CeCe Teneal. The city of Orlando is in for some soul shaking blues music.
When your soul is full it’s time to feed your stomach and with 6 different BBQ vendors to choose from you’re sure to find your new favorite spot for all things smoked, basted, sauced, and fire grilled. Your mouth will begin to water with meats and treats from Mister BBQ, Serena’s BBQ, Smokey Jay’s, Blazin Bones, Bubbalous Bodacious BBQ, and Johnny Henry’s. While the music is free the food is available for purchase so make sure to bring your wallets.
