Going For The Gold: The Highs And Lows Of The 2016 Rio Olympics

The 2016 Rio Olympics had some #WorthDoing moments as well as a few that made you wonder.  Here are a couple of our favorite memories from this years Olympic games.

Shoes Are For Fools!

During this year’s Olympic trials, Ethiopian runner Etenesh Diro lost her shoe mid race and subsequently qualified for the 3,000-meter steeplechase. After ditching the shoe, her final time was only 20 seconds less than her personal best. You go girl!

Phelps Puts Everyone To Shame

One of the most popular Olympic athletes, Michael Phelps, retires with 28 metals, 23 of which are GOLD! That’s one shiny collection you got there, Michael. Oh, and we can’t forget the stare Michael gave to one of his biggest competitors, Chad le Clos of South Africa. Rumor has it that after Phelps lost to him during the last Olympics’ 200-meter butterfly they haven’t been the best of friends. No worries, Michael showed him who’s boss this year.

Defying Gravity

Considered the greatest gymnast of all time, 19-year-old Simone Biles kicked some major A$$ winning gold for the women’s individual. We also have to give some MAJOR props to Uzbekistan’s Oksana Chusovitina who is currently the oldest female gymnast to compete at the Olympics. Oksana is 41.

No Filter Fu Yuanhui

Fu Yuanhui has become a social media sensation with her candid honesty. After placing fourth in the women’s 4X100 meter medley relay she stood hunched over with a look of pain on her face. When a reporter asked if she was okay, she simply replied with, “Actually, my period started last night, so I’m feeling pretty weak and really tired.” No shame in her game!

Puerto Rican Princess

Monica Puig of Puerto Rico took home PR’s first gold medal for a female event. That might sound impressive, but it gets better. She’s actually the first gold medalist from Puerto Rico in HISTORY! Girl power!

Mo Farah Takes A Tumble

Mo Farah of Britain fell HARD at the beginning of the men’s 10,000-meter race, but got back up and placed first for his country. He proves to his fans that no matter how hard you fall, you must always pick yourself up and persevere. This was his 3rd Olympic medal.

Is Lochte A Liar?

The answer is GYEAH. Swimming heart throb, Ryan Lochte, claimed that he was robbed at gunpoint. He explained that the men who robbed him were pretending to be police officers. However, police investigators describe Lochte’s actions as being intoxicated while vandalizing a public restroom. He later apologized for his behavior. Get your story straight, bro.
