Russian Ballet Orlando Performing CARMEN on May 2nd
Russian Ballet Orlando is run, owned, and operated by a third generation Russian ballet dancer and instructor. Katerina Fedotova was taught in the Vaganova method which is the only injury free method of ballet and per Katerina and her family it is the best way to learn. The Russian Ballet Orlando is a student company with dancers ranging from age 3 to adult. All of the ballet instructors are hand picked and trained in the Vaganova method by Katerina herself, making sure that every student receives the same attention and training.
On May 2nd the Russian Ballet Orlando will be performing CARMEN at the Davis Performing Arts Center. Their rendition of this passionate piece combines classic ballet with contemporary moves and the Spanish Flamenco. The story of CARMEN is about a strong, beautiful, passionate woman who loves life but is torn by love. The principle dancer for this performance is 19 year old Marissa Smith who has been dancing with The Russian Ballet Orlando for the past 5 years. She must choose between the loving policeman Jose who will do anything for her and the lustrous matador who pulls her in with his intoxicating charisma. Her fate is decided by the Tarot Cards when it is discovered that one day love will actually kill her. What will she do, and who will she choose?
Tickets for “Carmen” are only $20 and available for purchase on their website. For more information about the Russian Ballet Orlando including their class schedules, summer programs, and up and coming performances CLICK HERE.
