Orlando filled the bowl with purple pride on Sunday, March 8th as the Orlando City Lions took on their northern rivals NYC F.C. in their first match as an official MLS team. The Citrus Bowl was filled to capacity with 62,510 fans supporting the pride of Orlando as they battled for more than bragging rights on and off the field.

Kaka’ Free Kick Saves Orlando City Soccer
The first match of the season was fierce and full of hat tricks flying all over the field. The score remained 0-0 after the first half until NYC scored their first goal 76 minutes into the 90 minute battle. Team Captain Ricardo Kaka, who has 89 Brazil caps to his name and signed for Orlando City last June was feeling the pressure but his free kick in the second minute of injury time saved the day for Orlando City Soccer making their first game a draw. The roar of 62,000+ fans filled the arena when Kaka’ found the back of the net with a powerful strike against NYC F.C.’s goalie.
