Who Let the Dogs Out?
Shelter pets deserve a chance at finding a loving family, too. Mutt Day is the perfect day to bring your new best friend home from an Orlando shelter or rescue!
Dogs like that are cute and all, but shelter pups will love you just as much, and they really, really, really need your help (unlike that expensive, pure-bred pug you might have seen at a pet store.) The Orlando Humane Society currently has over 40 dogs available for adoption, each one so ready to shower you in puppy love and affection. They are open seven days a week, 12 p.m.-6 p.m. For a small adoption fee, your new best friend will come neutered or spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Your pet will also receive a post-adoption exam, to help you get started with a lifetime of care for your new pet! All in all, they offer a great deal on a new friend for life, and all you have to do is open your heart! Another great local pet rescue is Pet Rescue By Judy, located in lovely downtown Sanford, right behind the Paw Park. Talk about a perfect location!
If you want to help our four-legged friends, but can’t take a fuzzy buddy home, there are plenty of other ways to help out Orlando pets in need. Pet Rescue By Judy and The Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando both accept donations as well as volunteers to keep shelter pets happy during their extended stays. Or, if you think you can manage a pet temporarily, there are plenty of opportunities to help provide a safe foster home for an animal in need.
